STC - TASTE MRKT 2016

STC - TASTE MRKT 2016

This past weekend I visited Scarborough Town Centre (STC) to explore the lower level of their newly revamped TASTE MRKT.  With two phases in the mix, the Centre is undergoing a $37-million renovation to create the ultimate destination to shop and eat for foodies and fashionistas across the Greater Toronto Area.

I invited my friend Nazia along to enjoy the experience with me and we were both thrilled to explore the TASTE MRKT! Our visit involved a beautiful table setting in the TASTE MRKT lower level among 23 quick-service eateries. The food area was surrounded by illuminating natural light descending from the Centre’s skylight two stories above, which added to the open atmosphere. As part of the renovation, new seating has been added, as well as dish and cutlery service to create a truly upscale dining experience.

The TASTE MRKT food vendors are a true celebration of diverse, multicultural eating. Whether you are looking for Thai, Indian or French cuisine, there are several eateries to choose from: including Naan & Kabob, Mii Sandwich Company, Brioche Dorée and Real Fruit Bubble Tea!

All of our food items for lunch were prepared by a new addition to the food court, the Japanese inspired concept, Wasabi Noodle & Grill. We also snatched up a refreshing freshly squeezed OJ from Real Fruit Bubble Tea.

I am a sucker for sushi – just give me soy sauce and a dab of wasabi and I’m ready to roll! The Express Sushi from Wasabi Noodle & Grill was a delicious start for the both of us and featured a swell variety of Salmon Nigiri, California and Spicy Salmon Rolls (YUM!). Edamame was the perfect nibbler to have while we chit-chatted away, enjoying our spacious booth and radiant sights all around. The new space gave a completely different experience from typical mall food courts.

The second phase of the TASTE MRKT will be completed by May 2017, granting a one-of-a-kind dining atmosphere with upscale patio-style seating just below a large skylight. The second phase will feature three full service restaurants, two quick service eateries and 12 retail units. All names yet to be announced – I cannot wait for the opening next year!

Just in time to celebrate the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, STC’s Centre Court welcomes all to view the games on large double sided panels. Spotted throughout the space are also floor decals designed by artist Dani Roche of Kastor & Pollux. The decals celebrate 14 countries whose foods are featured across the 23 TASTE MRKT food vendors. The specially designed decals are a must see.

STC has $500 in gift cards to giveaway to celebrate the TASTE MRKT launch! Pick your favourite floor decal at the mall’s Centre Court, follow @shopSTC, snap a photo and post it using #TASTEMRKT🌸 for your chance to win. Find out all of the details here
