Where is more suitable to discover wines than with iYellow Wine Club? And who better, than to learn side by side with than wine-lover Karen (of Sincerely KN). We were set up for a treat with an invitation to Riesling & Co. German Wine Fair, where 28 tables awaited our tasting in the beautiful Arcadian Loft space. This evening was all about the Wines of Germany – most popularly idealized as Riesling, we were pleased to find other grapes including gewurztraminer, pinot nior, pinor gris and silvaner. Catering for the evening was provided by Oliver & Bonacini, we’re all too ready for this!
I’m a wine-newbie, I’ve always enjoyed the drink, but I’ve never been able to delve into learning about the craft. My two picks of wines are drastically opposite: a rich, plum aroma with a soft spice, or a good ol’ ice wine. For my own learnings of wine during this evening, I discovered that rieslings are a pleasant pick for me, they’re the perfect rounded balance… And I’ve found just the right ones!
Oh, and here’s another discovery… You’d think I had Casper by my side the entire evening with this nifty plate embellishment. A clip that lets me hold my wine, food and allow me to to snapchat? Talk about multi-tasking! I’m the queen of it tonight.
And talking about queens, we very swiftly spotted the German Wine Queen, Josefine Schlumberger, and, the only person rocking a Toronto Raptors jersey. Throughout the space, the neck of the bottles were marked with the “German Wine Queen’s Pick, and they were definitely among our favorites.
