Session Toronto, it’s the ultimate beer event of the summer!
2016 marks the 7th year that Session Toronto, presented by Griffin SESSION Toronto graces Yonge & Dundas Square. With a lot of fun in the sun, it’s the ultimate discovery of Ontario breweries beyond our familiarity, at 1 token a sample ($1 = 1 token). In addition to all of the $1-a-pop drinking action, there are also food purveyors to satisfy your desire for a nibble, and live music to enjoy the boozy discoveries to.
For this year, two sessions are held for Session Toronto, the 11 to 3PM was the first ever, special “Ladies only session” collaborated with the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies, and the second is welcome to all, open from 5PM. A tasting pass is $40, including 5 tokens and an 8oz commemorative glass, and a princess pass is available as well, at $100, including 30 tasting tokens, fast lane access, private washrooms and access to the princess area.
We arrived at 5:10, and there was already a steady growing line, but once it all started up, the line began moving swiftly. We were at the half way point at this part, the right is the entrance, the left line is the line behind us (wow!).
The most intriguing was Big Rock’s collaboration with O&B, who doesn’t love a good ol’ food pairing of O&B’s delicious food, and on top of that… a Taco Pork Butt? I also grew very fond of at new brewery discovery, Elora and a beer that stood out was Waterloo Brewing’s seasonal beer, Doppelbock, which was like a guiness, escalated with a “double-double” taste (this one is also available at the LCBO).
We snatched up 30 tokens to avoid all lines, but we also probably over-spent – but there’s no such thing as too much good beer is there? After all, there’s 100+ craft beer options!
