SIAL Canada is back for a 14th edition in Canada this year on May 2nd to 4th. It will be the largest trade show to learn and discover the latest finds across products, equipment and technology focused all around food innovation.

The European Union is amongst the many countries attending SIAL Canada, the EU is attending as the guest of honor as they bring 60 different vendors to the show. Throughout the three-day period within the EU pavilion, there will be a variety of cooking shows with Canadian celebrity chefs and EU-Canadian product pairing classes with a focus on the high-quality European ingredients.

An opportunity of the EU to promote their food and beverage products, significant for their quality, authenticity, diversity and safety and an opportunity to create links with Canadian businesses. The EU will have businesses from 23 states involved and a number of other producer associations also to be represented.

Last years stats for #SIALTOCanada was 15,000 visitors, 930 exhibitors from 60 countries within a 240,000 square foot exhibiting space! This year, we will see over 1,000 exhibitors at the show, see this year’s programming, here.

There are two awards up for grabs during SIAL, the Innovation 2017 Award (10 finalists, 1 award winner) and the Most Beautiful Olive Oil contest (12 medals).

Recently, SIAL Canada announced the 10 finalists of the SIAL Innovation 2017 Award and the winner will be selected by SIAL panel members on Day 1 of the show. All finalists, along with the Award winner, will be given the opportunity to travel to all SIAL shows around the world: China, Philippines, Indonesia, Paris and Abu Dhabi. My favorites of the unique products are dried mushrooms in a pepper grinder, saffron sugar cubes, and vermouth vinegar! You can read about of the judges, Birgit Blain’s insights on the 10 products, here. Each of these products can also be found at the SIAL Innovation Space (booth #727).

I’ll be at SIAL Canada for Day 1! I’ll be insta-storying what I experience and discover on the go, so make sure to follow along. My itinerary includes attending Eric Chong’s cooking show (of R&D and first Masterchef Canada winner), an EU-Canadian product pairing and mixologist contest with Chantelle Gabino (of Parts & Labour).
