Over the past two years, I’ve seen the evolution of True True’s brand. What stands at 169 King St. E is the same delicious quick, casual eatery now with a tastefully touched interior of marble, pastel pink with chrome reflection. This pizza spot is a space that you have to check out. The illuminated interior gives off a retro vibe, fit with music and friendly staff. On top of that, quick and delicious pizza pies that fit all tastes!

Topped pizza pies to my liking across 30+ options is hard to beat, but after many visits, I’ve found my favourite: the Hunt & Peck. Adorned with the yolks of two fresh cracked eggs, chorizo, spicy tomato and spicy tomato sauce, I add in extra tang and crunch with olives, mushrooms, roasted garlic and my favourite – sundried tomatoes. The pizzas are served in an oblong shaped personal pie, stretching across the board for an equal division of eight slices. Two thumbs up for the two yolks stretching across all eight slices!

Ordering is simple, either pick from 8 of the crafted menus and add on to make it your own style, or start from scratch choosing your sauce, toppings, cheese and finish. Gluten-free and whole wheat are also available for your choosing!

There’s just something about it. The chewy base, crisp crust and elasticity in the right places. Absolutely divine, each bite is well planned out as I like it.

I brought along my little brother to try True True with me this time around, and his pick was The Aristocrat with pesto, mozzarella and garlic confit with arugula sprinkled after baking. For extras, he went for a crumble of blue cheese, feta, ricotta and goat cheese with two salami slices. Again, the two salami slices were equally divided across all eight pieces – magic!

You would think that this is a personal-sized pie, but I always call time out four slices in and take the rest to go! Delicious leftovers to relive later on. As for my brother, he finished all eight slices and still had an appetite for dessert.

Lucky for us, it was only a week ago that True True officially started serving soft serve gelato. A sweet cooling treat available in chocolate, vanilla or a swirl, we both snatched it up in a small cup. My selection was a vanilla swirl with skor, a fantastic combination! Brandon went for the twist as he wanted the best of both worlds, selecting milk chocolate and sprinkles as his selected toppings. He loved it and saw right to the bottom of the cup; his only plea was that he wanted more sprinkles!

As always, True True holds up a consistently delicious time. A great mention is that they also serve rotating craft beers and wines to pair with your pie for the evening. I’ve gotta return for a dinner session. Don’t forget about that soft serve, it’s the sweetest treat to end the meal!
